That's me in the photo.
I look how I felt. And if you'd asked me that day, I'd have told you I was fine.
For years I thought this was just what busy looked like.
Here's what I didn't know then.
It's mostly us
Around the world, more people are short on iron than on any other nutrient.1 In Australia, the Bureau of Statistics measured who.
Australians not getting enough iron from food
Australian Bureau of Statistics, Usual nutrient intakes 2023. Counts food and drink only, not supplements.2
There's one reason for that gap. A woman aged 19 to 50 needs 18 mg of iron a day. A man needs 8.3
We lose it every month, and nobody tells us to put it back.
What gets in the way
Coffee, tea and matcha taken with a meal reduce how much iron you take up from it. Give them an hour apart.
That's one line from a list I wrote down: everything I wish someone had told me about what gets in the way of iron, and when to have it instead.
It's called The Blocker List, and it's free.
What we're making
Protein comes as a shake, a bar, a yoghurt. Iron is still a tablet.
So Steve and I spent two years making it something you drink.

I won't tell you how it feels until I've taken the finished one myself. When I have, you'll hear it from me first.
More than 800 women are already on the list. Here's what happens when you join them.
- Answer five questions. It takes two minutes.
- The Blocker List is yours at the end.
- We'll tell you the day bloodflo2 is released and you can buy it.
No payment. Just your first name and email at the end.
Nobody told any of us. So we're telling each other.
